Take these questions to every consultation call. The answers will tell you everything you need to know:

1. Who is your German partner and what is their IHK or sector chamber registration number? A real partner can be named and verified. Vagueness here is a significant red flag.
2. What language training do you provide, and which exam body issues the B2 certificate? The answer must be structured A1–B2 training, TELC or Goethe-Institut only.
3. What is your Indian company registration number (CIN) and GST number? Any legitimate Indian business can answer this immediately.
4. Can I see a sample Conditional Offer Letter from a previous candidate? A genuine COL is on employer letterhead, names the employer, the occupation, and is signed. Ask to see one - with candidate name redacted if needed.
5. What happens if the visa is rejected? The honest answer is that fees are non-refundable, and the consultancy will explain what they do to prevent rejection. Any consultancy that says "don't worry, it won't happen" without explaining their process is not being transparent.

What to Do If You Have Already Paid a Suspicious Consultancy

If you have paid a fee to a consultancy that is now displaying red flags - no traceable German employer, no real language training, unresponsive to direct questions - take these steps immediately:

• Document everything: save all WhatsApp messages, emails, receipts, and any documents received
• Contact the consultancy formally in writing and request a written explanation of programme status, employer name, and IHK registration of that employer
• File a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline (1915) or a consumer court if the consultancy is unresponsive or has clearly misrepresented the programme
• Contact the German embassy in New Delhi if you have been given a potentially fraudulent employer document - they can confirm whether a named employer is IHK-registered

Prevention is easier than resolution. This verification framework costs nothing and takes 30 minutes. Apply it before you register with anyone.
