The result is out. Now what?

Whether the result went your way or not, the days right after are when clear thinking matters most - and when it's hardest to do. Panic leads to rushed, expensive decisions. So here's a simple 90-day plan to move forward steadily, keeping medicine on the table if it's still your path, and opening a real alternative if it isn't.

Days 1–7: process, don't panic

Give yourself the first week to feel it and talk it through - don't sign up for anything, don't pay anyone, don't spiral. A result is information, not a verdict on your worth. Speak honestly with your family about how close you were and what everyone can realistically support. Decisions made in the first 48 hours of disappointment are rarely the wisest ones.

Days 8–30: explore every option honestly

Now do your research with clear eyes. Lay out the real paths - re-attempt, private MBBS, MBBS abroad, Indian science courses, and the Germany Ausbildung route - and look at the honest cost, time and risk of each. Separate facts from sales pitches, and be especially wary of anyone promising ‘guaranteed’ anything. Days 31–60: check eligibility and choose your lane

By now you should be narrowing down. If the Germany route interests you, confirming eligibility is simple: Class 12 pass (Science preferred) and age 18–25. This is the stage to decide your lane rather than keep every option half-open indefinitely - because the next step, the language, rewards focus. Choose the path that fits your budget, your temperament and your goals, not the loudest promise.

Days 61–90: start moving

Whatever you choose, momentum matters now. If it's Ausbildung, this is when you enrol and begin your German from A1 - the sooner you start, the sooner your journey can begin, because reaching B2 takes 10–12 months. The good news: you don't need to be in Delhi, or in any metro. Is it too late if I only decide in August?

Not at all. Batches start regularly through the year, so deciding a few weeks after the result is perfectly fine. The main thing is not to let months slip by undecided - once you choose, it's best to begin the language promptly.

Can I start German before I've fully decided my career?

Many students do exactly that - the early A1 stage costs little and keeps a real option open while you think. Just aim to commit to one lane before long, because reaching B2 needs focused effort rather than a divided one.
