Documents Required for Ausbildung Germany from India - The Complete Checklist

Indian student organising a complete set of documents for Ausbildung Germany application in a neat folder

📌 What You'll Learn

This is the master document checklist for the JSJ Ausbildung programme - organised by stage. From registration to visa to departure, every document you need is listed here with preparation notes, lead times, and what can be gathered in advance. Print this out. Tick it off. Arrive at each stage prepared.

Why a Clear Document List Matters

One of the most common causes of delay in the Ausbildung process - after language training pace - is document unpreparedness. Candidates who wait until the last stage to gather documents often discover that translations take 10 days, that their Class 12 certificate needs a specific notarisation, or that their passport expires too soon. These are all fixable problems. They are only problems when discovered at the wrong moment.

This blog organises every required document by stage, with notes on what can be prepared early and what must wait for a specific milestone. Candidates who treat this as a living checklist - gathering what they can in parallel with language training - arrive at the visa stage with nothing left to scramble for.

1 Registration Documents - Needed at Enrolment
  • Valid passportMust be valid for at least 18 months from registration date. Check expiry now - renewal takes 4–6 weeks.
  • Class 10 marksheet and certificateOriginal or attested copy. Required for age and education verification. Make 2 scanned copies.
  • Class 12 marksheet and certificateOriginal or attested copy. Confirms programme eligibility. Make 2 scanned copies.
  • Degree or diploma (if applicable)BCom, BA, BSc, BTech, or diploma - originals and scanned copies. Not required if Class 12 only.
  • Passport-size photographs6–8 recent biometric photos, 35mm × 45mm, white background. Professional studio only. Get spares.
  • Aadhar card / PAN cardFor identity verification within India. Standard documents.
2 Language Training Documents - Generated During A1 to B2
  • A1 TELC or Goethe-Institut certificateIssued after passing A1 exam (Month 2–3). Keep original and multiple copies. Triggers second instalment.
  • B2 TELC or Goethe-Institut certificateTHE most critical document in the entire process. Issued after B2 exam (Month 10–14). Original required for visa. Store securely immediately.
3 Employer Matching Documents - Around COL Receipt (Month 4–8)
  • Conditional Offer Letter (COL)Issued by Destination Germany GmbH. Review carefully - confirm employer name, Ausbildungsberuf, city, start date, stipend. Triggers third instalment within 7 days.
  • German-format CV / LebenslaufDifferent from Indian CV format. JSJ pre-visa support includes Lebenslauf guidance.
  • Motivation letter (Motivationsschreiben)1 page maximum. Why this Ausbildung, why Germany, your career intention. Must be genuine and specific to your employer and occupation.
  • Certified English translations - Class 10 and 12 certificatesBy a certified translator recognised by German authorities. Allow 10–14 days. Cost: Rs. 500–2,000 per document. Start early.

⚠️ Prepare Translations Early

Do not wait until the visa stage to arrange certified translations. Start the translation process as soon as your COL is received - or even earlier. Translation takes 1–2 weeks and costs ₹500–2,000 per document. Starting late here directly delays your visa application.

4 Visa Application Documents - After B2 Certification

The most document-intensive stage. Every item below must be present and correct before visa submission. JSJ reviews your complete dossier before it goes to the consulate.
