๐ WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
This is our 200th blog - so we've gathered the 20 questions Indian students and parents ask us most, and answered every one plainly and honestly in a single place. Consider it your quick, no-spin reference for everything Ausbildung in 2026.
Over 199 blogs, we've explored the Ausbildung route from just about every angle. For this milestone piece, here's the whole picture distilled into 20 honest questions and answers - the ones that come up again and again on our calls. No jargon, no over-promising. Just straight answers.
1. What exactly is the Ausbildung programme?
It's Germany's dual vocational training system. You train at a real German company while studying theory at a vocational school (Berufsschule) over about three to three-and-a-half years, and you finish with a nationally recognised qualification.
2. Is it the same as a German university degree?
No. It's practical, job-focused training rather than an academic degree. You earn while you learn and finish genuinely job-ready - a different path from university, and for many students a better-suited one.
3. How long does the whole journey take?
The training in Germany runs about three to three-and-a-half years. Before that, you spend roughly 10โ12 months in India learning German from A1 to B2.
4. Who is eligible?
Broadly, Indian students aged 18โ25 who have passed Class 12. Employers often prefer candidates in the 18โ20 range.
5. Do I need a science background?
It helps for technical sectors like engineering and IT, but the programme is open to many streams. Commerce, arts and other backgrounds fit well into sectors such as business, logistics and hospitality.
6. Is there an age limit?
The target range is 18โ25, with 18โ20 the most preferred by employers. Applying earlier generally gives you an edge.
7. How much does the programme cost?
The Jet Set Jobs programme fee is โน2,50,000 + GST (โน2,95,000 in total), paid in three milestone-based instalments tied to your progress - not all at once.
8. Is the programme free?
No. It's a paid programme. If anyone tells you Ausbildung placement is entirely free, treat that as a warning sign, not a bargain.
9. Will I earn while training?
Yes. You receive a stipend of โฌ1,000โโฌ1,300 per month from Day 1 in Germany, paid by your employer, and it typically rises with each year of training.
10. Do I need a block account of around โน11 lakh?
No - that's a requirement of the German student visa, not the Ausbildung visa. On the Ausbildung route, your training contract and stipend serve as your proof of funds.
11. Is the fee refundable?
No, the fee is non-refundable, and we tell you that clearly before you pay. It covers services genuinely delivered along the way - above all, your months of language training.
12. What level of German do I need?
B2. It's the level required for the visa and for functioning confidently at your workplace and vocational school.
13. How long does it take to reach B2?
Typically 10โ12 months to go from absolute beginner (A1) to B2, with consistent, structured study.
14. What if I don't clear B2 on the first attempt?
You retake it. The Goethe and TELC exams are modular, so you can often re-sit only the part you missed. A retake delays your journey - it doesn't end it.
15. Which sectors can I train in?
Popular tracks include IT, healthcare support and caregiving, business administration, logistics, mechatronics and engineering, and gastronomy and hospitality.
16. How much will I earn after qualifying?
As a qualified Fachkraft, typically โฌ2,500โโฌ3,600+ per month, rising with experience and further qualifications like a Meister or Techniker. Engineering and IT tend to sit at the higher end.
17. Can I settle in Germany permanently?
Yes. There's a clear pathway to permanent residency after roughly four years as a qualified worker, and to citizenship over time.
18. Can I work part-time during training?
Yes - in 2026, trainees may work up to 20 hours a week in an unrelated side job, with employer consent. That said, most find the stipend covers their needs comfortably.
19. Can you guarantee me a visa?
No - and no honest consultancy can. Be very wary of anyone who promises a guaranteed visa. What we promise is thorough preparation, a strong application and complete transparency.
20. Why choose Jet Set Jobs, and how do I start?
