📌 WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Why a Science/PCB background is a genuine advantage in several Ausbildung fields, the main sectors that suit Science students - mechatronics, IT, logistics and technical trades - what each pays as a qualified Fachkraft, and how to pick one that fits you.
A common worry after NEET: ‘I studied PCB/PCM for medical - if I go to Germany, is all that preparation wasted?’ The honest answer is no. Your comfort with logic, problem-solving, physics and chemistry maps neatly onto several technical Ausbildung trades. You're not starting from zero - you're pointing the same strengths in a new direction.
Ausbildung isn't one job; it's a whole system of trades. Here are the sectors that fit a Science student best.
If you liked physics, this is a natural home. Mechatronics blends mechanics, electronics and computing - maintaining and building the automated systems that run German industry. It's one of Germany's most in-demand fields, especially around ‘Silicon Saxony’ (Dresden, Leipzig). Qualified pay runs €2,800–€3,600+, rising further with a Techniker or Meister qualification.
Enjoyed logic and computing more than biology? Germany's IT Ausbildung tracks - application development, systems integration and IT support - are booming, and the demand for skilled workers is enormous. You learn on the job at a real tech employer while you study. Qualified IT professionals earn around €3,000–€3,600+ and upward with experience.
Germany is Europe's logistics engine, and the sector needs people who can think in systems and processes - something a Science student does well. Logistics Ausbildung covers warehousing, supply-chain coordination and operations. Qualified pay is around €2,500–€3,600+, with clear routes into supervisory roles.
Beyond these, Science students do well in electronics, lab and quality-focused technical roles, and industrial trades that reward precision and method. If you enjoyed the practical, hands-on side of your science labs, these are worth exploring.
| Sector | Qualified Fachkraft (gross/month) |
|---|---|
| IT & software | €3,000–€3,600+ |
| Mechatronics / engineering | €2,800–€3,600+ (more with Techniker/Meister) |
| Logistics & supply chain | €2,500–€3,600+ |
| Other technical trades | €2,500–€3,500+ |
💡 HOW TO CHOOSE
Pick by what you actually enjoy, not just the salary. Liked physics and machines? Mechatronics. Liked coding and logic? IT. Liked organising systems and processes? Logistics. The best trade is the one you'll happily do for three years and beyond.
Whichever sector you choose, the path is the same and the rules are the same: you train to B2 German (10–12 months with us), your profile goes to Destination Germany's verified employers, and the employer selects you independently through an interview. There's no guaranteed seat, and the German still has to be earned. But your science background gives you a real, honest head start in these fields.
Not sure which sector fits your marks and interests? That's exactly what a free counselling call is for.
Is IT Ausbildung really available for someone from a Science background?
Yes. IT tracks are open to Class 12 pass students, and a Science background - with its logic and problem-solving foundation - fits well. You don't need a prior computer-science degree; you learn the skills during the training.
Do I have to pick a sector before I start?
No. You begin with your German language journey, and we help you match a sector to your interests and profile along the way, before your profile is submitted to employers. There's time to choose well.
